Wander
I did it. I booked a hotel in Arcachon and a vineyard B&B in Saint-Emilion. Instead of Paris, I’ll walk the beach of a resort town and the cobbled streets of the fabled medieval wine centre. I’m not sure if I will travel by car or train, but that can be arranged later. For now, I have sights in mind and a week to dream about them.
Traveling allows you not only the experience of the moment, but the anticipation of pleasure and adventure which enlivens daily life considerably. I can more fully engage with my here and now while appreciating it in relation to what I know will come. JP and I always say we look forward to leaving and to coming home. Travel allows us to shift our perspective and enrich our lives with what we discover abroad and to gain insight into what we left behind. I’m hoping for both.
